WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item level upgrade will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item upgrader mod level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrading will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other items. They are purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the item upgrade's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even when they belong to a different gear set.

The discount applies to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific level upgrades for items. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrade upgrader (learn here) like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to make use of them in a responsible manner. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
